According to the previous year closing ranks,if you wish to take low level NITs or new IIITs you don't need a very good rank.And the previous year closing ranks tell that your rank can even be as low as a rank which is below 1 lakh.Witg this rank you can get a less prefered branch in a less prefered NIT or IIIT.Hope this answer helps.Thank You
