M.Tech degree is offered in the following specializations of Civil Engineering,

Environmental Engineering.

Geoinformatics.

Geothechnical Engineering.

Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering.

Infrastructure Engineering and Management.

Structural Engineering.

Transportation Engineering.

There is no such thing called THE BEST FIELD in Civil Engineering for M.Tech. Each branch has its own importance.

 

You need to get the best out of the course you get into.

 

Having said that,

 

Structural Engineering and Transportation engineering have more job availability and good scope for research.

 

There are good opportunities even in software side (Related to structures) like

 

STAAD ProETABS

 

Revit Structure and Architecture

 

Some of my friends from IITs got placed with annual package of Rs 5 Lakhs per annum (Average)

 

Geo-Technical Engineering helps you start your own consultancy firm.

 

Remember, all major constructions need Geotechnical engineer's approval and only after certain tests like plate load test , construction works take place.
