Hello,
You need to apply for a correction of a clerical error in your school records and Transfer Certificate (TC) by providing substantial documentary proof of your actual caste (Shaik BC-E). You can't legally change your caste by choice, but a mistake can be rectified.
I hope it will clear your query!!
If your TC shows “OC” but your actual community is Shaik (BC-E), you should correct it as soon as possible. Here is the simple process:
1. Go to your school/college where the TC was issued. Tell them the caste was entered wrong and you want a corrected TC.
2. Carry proof of your actual caste. Take your BC-E caste certificate issued by the government. This is the main document they will check.
3. The school/college will issue a corrected TC. They may give you a revised TC or an errata/letter of correction .
4. If the school refuses or the institution is closed: Go to the District Educational Office (DEO) or MEO and submit a request along with your caste certificate.
5. For government teacher exams: You only need the official caste certificate for reservation. The TC caste is not used for reservation, but it is better to correct it to avoid problems during document verification.
Hope it helps !
