My date of birth in my marksheet is wrong, and to fix it scholar register is required, but the date of birth in my schools scholar register is also the same wrong one as my marksheet. And they're refusing to fix it. It's 10 months before I was born. So what should I do?

This is a critical mistake which can actually bring much negative impact to your future. It is necessary that this mistake be corrected soonest. The steps are:

1. Gather Evidence

Birth Certificate: A copy of birth certificate authenticated from the appropriate government agency would be the best source in confirming the correct date of your birth.

Medical Records: If you have medical records, such as immunization records or hospital birth records that contain your actual date of birth, gather them.

2. Visit Your School:

Explain the Error: Clearly explain to the school authorities the error in your school records.

Provide Documents: Hand over the birth certificate and any document supporting it to the school.

Request a Rectification: Request a formal rectification in your school records. The school might initiate the rectification process.

3. Contact the Board of Education:

If the school cannot do the rectification, send a letter to the relevant board of education like CBSE, ICSE, and State Board

Explain the situation and provide copies of the required documents

Follow their guidelines to complete the rectification process

4. Legal Recourse :

If nothing works according to the methods mentioned above, you may even have to resort to legal action. Talk to a lawyer to know your options and explore legal remedial measures.

Important Points to be Remembered:

Act Fast: The sooner you take action on this matter, the better.

Documentation should be Correct: Ensure that all of the documents you send are accurate and complete

Patience and Persistence: An error in an official record can take time to correct. Do not lose patience. Put in sustained efforts.

By following the steps enumerated above and seeking proper assistance, hopefully you will be able to rectify that error in your school records and ensure that all future official documents reflect your correct date of birth.

Hello,

Write to the school explaining the wrong date of birth in your marksheet and school records with an explanation. Collect documentary evidence of your correct date of birth, such as your birth certificate or passport, and write a formal letter to your school explaining how the error occurred and what documents you have attached with the letter. If all your efforts are not fruitful there, you can approach your school board or education department for intervention. File an affidavit, if necessary, before a lawyer and seek an order of the court requiring rectification. You can draft an affidavit proving the date correct and get it attested by a notary public or gazetted officer. Do not forget to retain copies of all communications and documents relating to your case. Such an approach will enhance your appeal and lead you to rectify the scholar register and official records.
