With an EWS category rank of 45,457 in JEE Main, getting admission into a GFTI (Government Funded Technical Institute) in Uttar Pradesh is going to be very difficult, especially for high-demand branches like Computer Science, IT, or Electronics.

Most GFTIs, like IIIT Allahabad, MNNIT Allahabad, or KNIT Sultanpur, have much lower closing ranks for EWS candidates — usually within the top 10,000–25,000 depending on the branch.

However, you may still have a slim chance for lower-demand branches (like Civil, Mechanical, or newer programs) in lesser-known GFTIs during the last rounds of JoSAA counselling or CSAB special rounds. It’s also a good idea to keep a backup plan, such as applying to state engineering colleges through UPTAC counselling or private colleges with decent placements.
