For ECE in the open category the average predictive score is around 500 for the NITs. It is always much more demanding in the open category. We suggest you apply to a lower ranked NIT if you are keen on joining only NITs. Some of the lower ranked NITs are Jharkhand, Jalander, Agartala & Manipur.
Also make a list of other ranked colleges that you would like to apply, check their eligibility criteria and many of them have their own examinations. For example VIT, Vellore will be on the basis of marks obtained in VITMEE or valid GATE score.
