Sorry to say but for NITs you need to have a percentile more than 97. Though if you have state quota in any NIT then you might get admission into branches like products engineering, fashion technology etc. As the cutoff for home state students are too low as compared to other state students.
Moreover if you belong to SC/ST then there are fair chances of you getting core branches in NITs with your category rank.
