To be frank, securing mechanical in VIT with a rank above 70k is practically not possible. There is fierce competition for Mech/ ECE and CSE-IT branches.

If you have a below 50K then there would have been still some chance to get a mechanical branch in VIT but now you have to pay a lot-lot more depending on your slot and higher the slot more the money.

If you are financially strong and just want a degree to go for higher studies or if you are sure you will perform better here and can secure a core job, you can go for it. Else better join some other good engineering colleges.
