In this rank your sons rank would be around 9k-10k.

And in this he won't get any good NIT college.If you belong from OBC then there will be some chances of getting NIT Patna or some lower rank NIT.

I would suggest him to work hard and get better percentile in April session so that he can get into some good  NITs.

It can done by using the college predictor which link has been given below and also  you have a good percentile to get good college ,you can also predicate your rank by using the formula.,

(100-your percentile)*no.of students wrote the exam/100,for the january exam total no of students are 112679

then your rank is 9498

And also rank will be changed after the April exam due to number of students who will attempt the exam will be changed.The final rank will be given after the April exam.
