To get into Merchant Navy you need to have a vision of 6/6 without Spectacles. This is possible with Laser and no color-blindness for Nautical Officer’s and for Engineering Officers. There were strict rules regarding eye sight in the merchant navy before but now new rules have been made and they have given some leeway in that matter. You surely get a few days time for the surgery which hardly takes time and you recoup within a few days. The college and company specified doctor have to give the clearance.
