Hello mirzad,You are lucky enough to get the answer of this question from a VIT guy itself.In your rank you will get mechanical branch in category 3 or 4,In which your fee will be very high.

You fee structure will look like:(Approximate)

Tution fee: 3-4 lkh/p.a.

Hostel and mess fee: 70-80k /p.a.

so including all your expenditures and travelling your whole betch will sum upto something 15-17lakhs.

No, as far as the closing ranks are concerned it is very difficult to get the Mech course because the closing ranks are being reduced year by year.
