• It consists a  flexible wire which goes over a pulley

• It is attatched to an indicator

• And this indicator is on there on a curved scale.

• A needle in there in centre of  pulley that shows deflection as the growth of the plant.

• Deflection can is read on a graduated arc , to measure the increase in length of  plant.
