The NMMS exam stands for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Exam .
It is a scholarship exam for students studying in Class 8 . The exam is conducted by the State Education Department or SCERT of each state in India.
Key Details :
Purpose: To help deserving and needy students continue their studies after Class 8.
Eligibility:
The student must be in Class 8 in a government or government-aided school.
The annual family income should be below Rs. 3,50,000 .
The student must have scored at least 55% marks in Class 7 (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST students).
Exam pattern:
Two papers:
MAT (Mental Ability Test) – checks reasoning and thinking skills.
SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) – covers subjects like Science, Maths, and Social Studies.
Scholarship amount: Rs. 12,000 per year (Rs. 1,000 per month) from Class 9 to 12.
