As you are still in your 3rd year, you might not be still aware of the complete GATE syllabus. So analyse the topics and syllabus that you have learnt for the past 3 years and practise as much Mathematics as you can. Try as many mock tests as possible and get a hang of the exam pattern. basically GATE examination is not very tough examination , syllabus is little bit vast so we feel sometimes it is difficult, the entire syllabus is same as what you study in four years of your BTech, if anyone is starting his/her preparation from 3rd year
Then he /she should give his/ her hundred percent in these two years that is about the preparation of all the subject which you are studying in these year, then after when you will have last 5 to 6 month before examination then you should give a gist to those subjects with you study in your 1st and 2nd year because I think if you focused on 3rd and 4th year subjects then first and second year subject will be easy for you , but this may reversed for some people so apply this accordingly.
