Hello Sameer,

In 2017, the number of candidates that registered for CAT were 2,31,067. Out of which 1,99,632 appeared for the examination. In 2016, the registered number was slightly higher 2,32,434 while only 1,95,000 appeared for the examination.

The years 2013 & 2014 had seen a significant downfall in the number of candidates registering as well as appearing.

The past 11 years (2007 onwards) data gives an average of 2.25 L registrations and 2 L students appearing for CAT.

Hello Sameer,
Every year approximately 1.2L to 1.5L students apply for CAT. This is average data for previous 10 years. This number has increased in recent year. So this range may go high in upcoming years.

I have given data of last 10 years approx. 5 years ago, it range was approximately 1.2L. but then after it increased rapidly year by year. This year, It is expected approx 2.5L application.
