Hello Sameer,
Approximately 10 lakhs students apply for GATE Every year. No of applicants is highest for Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering. Only these branch comprise of approx 75% of total application for GATE.

Around 9.22lakhs students register for GATE in 2017.

Out of which 7.87 lakh students appeared which js approximately 85%.

And around 1.29lakh students qualifed as per 2017 trends.

So on average 10lakh studnets apply and approximate 14 to 16%students qualify .
