Hello,

Ammonia is the simplest example of a functional group called amines . Now, there are primary, secondary, and tertiary amines depending on the no. of Hydrogens attached to the Nitrogen in a organic compound.

These are described below.

Nh3 : Ammonia

RNH2 : Primary Amine

R2NH : Secondary amine

R3N : tertiary amine

Here R is any alkyl group. Amines play a very important role in many organic reactions.
