Parmanu is called an atom in English. The idea of the atom was given by the Greek philosopher Democritus . This idea was forgotten for more than 2000 years.

In the year 1800, John Dalton re-introduced the atom. An atom is defined as the smallest unit of matter that forms a chemical element.
