The periodic classification is just a way to arrange the elements according to some characteristics. Today, what we study the table of elements, us called the Modern Periodic Table .

In this, elements are arranged in the increasing order of their atomic number. It consists of 7 periods and 18 groups. At present we know around 118 elements in the periodic table.

And if some new element gets discovered, then we can put that in this periodic table as per the atomic number. Different elements have different kind of properties. 4 groups are in this table. S, p, d, f.
