please explain 1 to group18 of periods table character

Hello Candidate,

The periodic table is broadly classified into seven periods and eighteen groups, with the last group or 18th group being of inert metals. Group 17 belongs to the elements fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine having charge -1. Group 16 has a chart of -2 and are known as chalcogens.

Group 15 are known as pnictogens, having charge of -3. Group 14 is mostly composed of semiconductors and is known as the carbon family. Group 13 is known as the boron family they act as both metals and nonmetals under different conditions.

Group 3 to 12 belongs to D block elements, which are known for variable oxidation States and exhibit different colours while reacting with different compounds. Group 2 is known as alkaline earth metals which begins with Be. Group 1 is referred as alkali metals having high electropositive character.
