Well it is a very tough question, since you have mentioned Tamil Nadu. The board of study is ultimately easy that everyone gets 98%. On the other hand the number of Engineering seats available is more than the number of students appearing for 12th. Even the candidate with least mark is eligible for Engineering. Here the situation is very vague. I would suggest you not to follow the sheep's logic. That doesn't mean that I am resisting you to do Engineering. But please be choosy with the college or prefer any alternate field which has many vacancies
