SSN would come in ahead of CEG mainly as a predominantly CBSE culture is maintained in SSN i.e you are expected to learn stuff more than mug it. CEG comes in next followed by MIT. These are the top three private colleges in Chennai. SRM Eswari is a worthy mention and so is the entire SRM group. But the problem with them is that the placement is mainly focussed on IT companies. So unless you want to join an IT company, you must avoid it. SVCE has deteriorated over the years. VIT Chennai is good too as it has quite a reputation on an international level but the problem of IT companies has started plaguing it too. So the list would be like.

2.CEG
3.MIT
4.VIT
5.SRM group
6.SVCE(Famous earlier but has an ordinary reputation these days because of a change in management)
7.Sairam, St Joseph
Bottom dwellers include Rajalakshmi, Dhanalakshmi, Madhi, Anand. The list goes on and on. It is like a new college gets opened in a desolate location every year . You have got so many of them but most of them are crappy
