According to posts in Indian railways ,group A has higher posts with higher salaries as compared to group B candidates .

In group A , posts are filled through UPSC exam and there are 2 versatile exam conducted by railways for group A posts ,they are Engineering services examination also called as IES for filling the posts of techinal ,mechanical and other store or workshop services .

Another one is Civil services examination which is the most prestigious examination conducted by UPSC every year for filling the entries in civil services i .e.,

Indian railways account services (IRAS)

Assistant security commissioner in Indian railways

Indian railways personnel service ( IRPS)

Indian railways traffic service (IRTS)
