It varies from college to college. For example: if you wish to do MA in  Arabic / Linguistics /sanskrit/urdu from Delhi university or colleges affiliated to Delhi University then you just need a bachelor's degree from any discipline. It does not matter if you have completed BA with same subjects. Similarly, If you want to pursue MA in Punjabi, Psychology, philosopy etc. then it is mandatory to have same subjects in BA.
