Generally the weightage of class 12th in Jee mains exam is around 55% and that of 11th is 45%. To clear jee mains exam, you should aim for a score above 100 and for good NITs and IIITs around 170 marks. It is quite difficult to get a good score by only preparing half the syllabus unless you are very strong with all the concepts.

I will advice you to study some main topics from class 11th syllabus as well while you can leave some that have less weightage. Check out the link below to learn about the weightage of various chapters in jee mains exam.

Hi there
As you mention you are strong in class 12 but don't have strong grasp on class 11. See, to get admission into NIT you have to score good percentile.
For this you never fully dependent on class 12 syllabus in case if some of your attempted questions of class 12 goes wrong then your score will be very less but if you have some command over class 11 then you may be answer some questions.
You have sufficient time to prepare for class 11. You can prepare your own timetable in such a way so that you can prepare class 11 also do revision, practice questions, mock test side by side.
