According to previous year data and my calculations a percentile score of more than 95 can secure you a seat in  lower nit.But to secure a good Nit and also a course of your choice you need to secure atleast more than 98.5 percentile.

Talking about NIT ,hamirpur which is a decent college but doesn't come under top 10 nit's,i think a percentile score of 98 can secure you a seat in top branches and if you are ready for lower branches then 96 percentile will be okay according to me.

Ranking wise the a rank of less than 10000 is necessary for top nit's with preferred branch and a rank of less than 25000 can easily fetch you a place in a good nit.

NOTE- If you are under reserved category consider a less than buffer of 3-5 percentile.
