There are more than 10 national level,state level and University level entrance exam conducted in india for admission in engineering college for B.tech courses.Some if the popular exams are :
JEE mains/advance
WBJEE
KCET
IPU CET
BITSAT
COMEDK
UPSEE
and so on....
The syllabus of all the exams consists if questions from Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics that you have read in class 11th and 12th.
Now, some exams like BITSAT also asks question related to Aptitude.But almost 90% of the exams asks question from PCM.

to get an admission into Btech streams you have to give national level or state level exam. JEE mains and advance is national level entrance for getting an admission into different streams of engineering. in state level it is different so have to check. You can also apply for BITs who conducts it's own exam for intake of students.

IIT accepts jee advance and NIT/IIIT accepts JEE mains. Government engineering college accepts both national and state level entrance. Same goes for private institutes too.
