There are several options after clearing GATE.If candidate clear this exam with good marks, candidate can do masters with good university,do jobs in private and public sectors companies.
Your second question answer is depending upon the companies profile,and various other factors you can choose private firms also. After clearing Gate companies provide good salary. Generally private sectors have good work culture when they are recruiting on a high level.
