The main criteria of securing a seat in an nit is the all india rank but not the percentile since you have mentioned that your percentile is 98.5, I am assuming your rank is around 16 or 17k while answering the question, When I went through the opening and closing ranks, I found out that with the above rank you can get ece and eee in nits like the lower nits like nit raipur,srinagar,uttarakhand,andhra pradesh but you have good chances of getting lower branches in good nits. I would suggest you to weigh your options carefully before coming to a decision.
