.You can do graduation in arts, science, engineering, medical, economics or  commerce.All degree holders in any stream of subjects are eligible for writing the IAS exams

UPSC conducts a separate exam in 3 stages.

Priliminaries,

Mains and

personality tests.

Only if you pass all the stages, you can become an IAS officer.

All subjects are acceptable for IAS job. So, don't worry about the IAS now. Study subjects in which you find interest.

but if you still want to start preparing or the exam, you can concentrate more on the following subjects, these may help

• Political Science.
• History.
• Geography.
• Economics.
• Psychology.
• Sociology.
• Public Administration.
• Philosophy.

it's not compulaory that only arts and commerce students can opt for IAS.

UPSC civil services exam is the exam through which candidates are recruited into different posts such IAS and IAF. Now that you aspires to be a civil servant, the best stream for you will be definitely humanities (arts)

For e.g. subjects like History, Public Administration, Political Science, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Economics etc forms the major syllabus of General Studies papers (which have the maximum weightage across the Prelims and the Mains stages of the CSE). Also theory subject will improve your essay writing and english speaking, further necessary for interview round.
