Yes speaking is important for data engineer or data scientist. Most of the people of this field are feel nervous to talk with many people as they have to present their new model or or new thought of ideas for presentation. Most of the cases they feel nervous about the the new thoughts to implement in ideas expression. So speaking and communication skill with others in public or in private  has great importance in a field of data engineers and data scientist job environment.
