Hello Rupnarayan,

The mining engineering branch in Rourkela is good as it provides good placements in comparison to other branches. Nowadays certain companies are also coming for Pre-placement offers. Many big companies come for placements which include-

• TATA

• VEDANTA

• L & T GROUP

• ADANI

• LAFARGE

• HINDALCO

• CIL

In this branch you do not need a good CGPA instead practical knowledge is more important for placements although certain companies may ask for a specific minimum cutoff. But placements are sure if you have a good knowledge of the mining subject. You can gain this by going to the mining fields.

I would suggest you to go for mining engineering but you should decide based on your preferences and on the subjects and career choice that you are interested in.

I hope this helps.

All the best
