To crack the SSC JE CBT 1 (Paper 1), students need a balanced approach between their technical subjects and the non-technical sections (Reasoning and General Awareness), which together carry 100 out of 200 marks. The exam is expected to take place in May-June 2026.
Reasoning (50 Marks)- Score Booster
This is the most scoring section. Aim for 45+ marks.
High-Weightage Chapters: Coding-Decoding, Series (Number & Alphabet), Analogies, Syllogism, Blood Relations, and Direction Sense.
Strategy: Don't over-study theory. Spend 1-1.5 hours daily solving 50 mixed questions.
Focus on Non-Verbal Reasoning (Mirror images, paper folding, embedded figures) as these are quick marks.
Use the timer method: Try to solve 50 questions in 35-40 minutes to build exam-day speed.
General Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry)
Science accounts for 12-15 marks of the General Awareness section.
Biology: Focus on the Human Body Systems (Digestive, Circulatory, Nervous), Diseases & Vitamins, and Plant Kingdom basics.
Physics: Study Units & Measurements, Newton’s Laws, Light (Reflection/Refraction), and Electricity. Focus on conceptual definitions rather than complex numericals.
Chemistry: Prioritise the Periodic Table, Chemical Names/Formulas of common substances (like Baking Soda, Bleaching Powder), and Metals & Non-metals.
Source: NCERT Class 9 & 10 Science or Lucent’s General Knowledge is sufficient.
Current Affairs (10-12 Marks)
Timeframe: Cover the last 8-10 months (September 2025 to May 2026).
Key Areas: Sports: Recent Olympics/Cricket/Grand Slams.
Awards: Nobel Prizes, Oscars, National Film Awards.
Government Schemes: Specifically, those related to infrastructure, Jal Jeevan Mission, or PM Awas Yojana (relevant to JE profile).
Appointments: New CEOs, ISRO / DRDO heads, and International leaders.
