Hello,

If your query is is regarding NTA JEE Main then NTA releases the JEE Main score in terms of percentile score which is also known as NTA score. The percentile score is in between 0-100. Percentile is the percentage of candidates who have score equal or less marks than you. The marks scored by the candidates will be converted in to percentile score. JEE Main Paper 1 is conducted for 300 marks Paper 2 is conducted for 400 marks. NTA releases the JEE main answer key and response sheet so that candidates can calculate the marks scored by. JEE Main marks may range from negative number to 300 marks for Paper 1 and for paper 2 it may range from negative number to 400 marks. So if it above 100 then it is means it is Marks scored by the candidates. If it ranges from 0-100 then it is percentile/NTA score. The percentile score is rounded to 7 decimal points to break the tie. The percentile vs marks trend may not be exactly the same every year because it depends on the total number of candidates appeared, top score in exam, normalized marks etc.

Hi

Actually, you are confusing between marks and NTA score i. e your percentile.

The number 120, 130 etc you are talking about is the marks obtained out of 300 marks in JEE main examination. Your jee main result doesn't mention marks, it just mention percentile and after  May session result will mention both rank and percentile and the rank will be on the basis of the best percentile out of all the 4 attempts.

What is percentile ?

Your NTA score and percentile are one and the same thing

your percentile tells you your position among those who have appeared in jee main examination

Your  percentile is the   total percentage of students who have scored less than or equal to your score.

For example,
if you get 92 percentile,  it means that your performance was better than 92 per cent of the total candidates that appeared in  jee main examination .

Why percentile/ nta score can't be more than 100?

Just above I have mentioned that your percentile just tells you the percentage of students you are ahead of.

Let's considered a hypothetical situation let's say that you get 150 percentile.

But how can you get 150 percentile because the percentage of students cannot be more than 100 right?

Thus percentile or NTA score cannot be more than 100.

After your exam,
To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to, your home state, your gender etc, the link for jee main college predictor is provided below
