Hear is a form of energy which can travel, it might need a medium or it might not.

When it does not require a medium, that is travel through vacuum, the transfer is called - RADIATION.

However, When it does require a medium to travel through then it can happen in two ways-

1. The medium could be a FLUID: The process of heat transfer here is called convection, where there is a cyclic flow of heat, imagine a vessel of water heating.

2. The medium could be a SOLID: The process of heat transfer here is called CONDUCTION, where there is a vibration among the molecules carrying the energy to newer molecules and ultimately transferring the heat away from source.
