irrespective of the exam you`re speaking about, while filling up the for and paying for counselling you get an option to fill the choices of your preferred college with desired streams. That is for the complete counselling process. You need to participate in it, if not selected in the first round then it`ll be automatically upgraded for the next round. Although, in some exams there is a Spot round. In the spot round they offers a new registration and choice filling process.
