The basic eligibility criteria for getting admission in AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) are:

1. The nationality of the candidate must be Indian (However, some seats are also reserved for NRI's).
2. The candidate should have passed their senior secondary education from a board recognized by AMU.

The eligibility criteria for getting into AMU are as follows for the various courses offered:

1. B.tech and B.arch- The candidate should have passed their senior secondary education from a board recognized by AMU with a minimum of 50% in the subject Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
2. MBA- The candidate should have passed in their bachelor's course with a minimum of 50% marks.
3. L.L.B.- The candidate should have passed their senior secondary education with a minimum of 50%.
4. L.L.M.- The candidate should have passed their L.L.B./B.A.L.L.B. with a minimum of 55%.
5. B.A.(Hons.)- The candidate should have passed their senior secondary education with a minimum of 50%.
6. M.A(Mass Communication)- The candidate should have passed their graduation with a minimum of 50%.
7. B.Sc.(Hons.)- The candidate should have passed their senior secondary education with a minimum of 55%.
8. M.Sc.(Biotechnology)- The candidate should have passed their bachelor's course (B.Sc./B.tech./B. Pharm./MBBS) with a minimum of 55%.

Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh established in year 1920.  The university ranked as 43. The type institute is central university. The ownership of the university is Public/Government. The University has approval from UGC and Accreditation from NAAC as A grade. There are several courses offered by the university such as Diploma, UG degree, PG degree course to get admission in this courses there is eligibility criteria.

Eligibility criteria for admission into the Diploma courses

1. Candidates must have passed SSC or an equivalent examination with not less than 45% marks in aggregate of English, Maths, and Science as three subjects of equal weightage.

2. for some diploma courses 10+2 qualification is required

Eligibility criteria for admission into the UG degree course

1. Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of this University or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate OR Diploma in respective course with at least  50% marks in aggregate.

2. For some courses there is entrance examination, so the candidates have to appear for the respective examination to get admission into respective courses. on the basis of both scores i.e 10+2 or equivalent exam score and Entrance exam score the seats allotted to the eligible candidates.

Eligibility criteria for admission into the PG degree course

1. Undergraduate degree in respective course or its equivalent examination in the relevant branch of study with not less than 60% marks in aggregate.

2.  For some courses there is entrance examination, so the candidates have to appear for the respective examination to get admission into respective courses.
