hi bhuvan,

When you enroll in a dual degree(eg. B.Tech + M.Tech) program that means:

Disadvantages:

  • You will start your job one year later and will get a same package/same opportunity. Mostly in companies/job profiles/salary there is little to no for B.Tech graduate and B.Tech + M.Tech graduate. So you will a whole year for the same job(in most of the cases).

  • Suppose you thought of doing MBA/UPSC preparation but you are trapped because you first have to completer not only B.Tech but M.Tech also as you are dual degree student. So, that one year extra year is unimportant if you want to go MBA/UPSC preparation.

  • Your B.tech. batchmates can apply for foreign university for their Masters in some of the best universities across the world like  Toronto university, Stanford, University of British Columbia. But you are bound to do Masters from the same institute only. You can go for Masters in those best universities across the world after completing M.Tech during Dual degree. But again you will be left behind by your normal B.Tech batchmates.

Advantages:

  • You can spend more time learning your subject or spending more time with your college. If you want to do PHD then you will be preferred over your regular B.Tech batchmate, who applied for PHD right after B.Tech.

I hope this answer will help.
All the best for the future!!
