The main features are:

a)      Dalton proposed that matter consists of very small particles which he named atoms.

b)      Atoms of similar substances are similar in all respects such as mass, shape and properties.

c)      Atoms of different substances are different in all respects such as mass, shape and properties.

d)     Atoms of elements combine in the ratio of whole numbers to produce a large number of atoms of a compound which is a new substance.

e)      Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed.
