As per your question The first requirement to become a judge in India is to possess an LL.B degree from

any University/College recognized by the Bar Council Of India.

One can choose either a 3-year LL.B degree or a 5-year integrated B.A./BBA/B.com/B.Sc LL.B degree.

After completion of the said degree the graduate who are willing to be a neighborhood of Judiciary need

to compete for the State Judicial Services Examination which are held by respective State Governments

from time to time.

There are 2 sorts of Judicial Service Examination

Lower Judiciary Services – The eligibility criteria for appearing in Judicial Services Examination may be a

degree in LL.B and he/she has enrolled or qualified to be enrolled as an advocate under the Advocates’

Act 1961. No experience is required and final year candidates also can appear. The regulation varies

consistent with the state. it's usually between 21 to 35 years.

Higher Judiciary Services - A minimum of seven years of practise as a lawyer at bar may be a necessary

qualification for direct entry level to become a neighborhood judge upon a written examination and oral

interview by a committee of supreme court judges, the appointment of district judges is notified by the

government . this is often mentioned as direct recruitment.

Recently a three-judge Bench in Supreme Court Of India led by Justice Arun Mishra declared that a

subordinate judicial officers cannot apply or compete for direct appointment as District Judge albeit

they need a previous experience of seven years as an advocate.The only opportunity available for them

to be District Judges is thru promotion in accordance with the principles framed under Article 234 and

proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution.
