Dear Aspirant,

PCM is a great combination. It has a bright future many career options with a great scope as well. Here, I will be telling you about the viable options which you can take after this combination.

1) Engineering

Engineering is one of the most common options among the available options. It is a 4 year long Bachelor's Degree and very popular among PCM students. There are a lot of branches of the same which you can choose according to your interest and the career you want to pursue in the future. Some options are Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, IT Engineering, IC Engineering, EC Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Petroleum Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering. If you do not wish to pursue a degree, you can also go for a diploma which will be 3 years long and the branches are classified as above. Then you can go forward with a lateral entry in B.E. if you wish to.

2) Merchant Navy

This sector offers careers which do not fit into the constraint of 9 to 5 job and can have more adventure and thrill than other jobs. Marine Engineering is one of the engineering courses to get in this field. You can also pursue a GME course to Marine Engineer in a period of one and a half years. You can go for various Rating courses or also pursue B.Sc. in Nautical Science to become a Navigation Officer.

3) Architecture

If you are good at designing spaces and have a passion for drawing them as well, you can go for architecture. It is a growing field with a constant need for good infrastructure around the world. A good architect is needed in almost all commercial sectors for their expertise. If you have the knack for the same, go for it.

4) Computer Application

BCA is 3-year long course which has a lot to do with Computer Science and programming, The students have to deal with programming languages like C++, Java, Python etc. along with Web Development, Database Management, Multimedia etc.

These are the basic choices any PCM student can take. Other than these, you can go for:

  • Commercial Pilot Training
  • AME Training
  • You can also go for Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Media courses as they accept PCM students as well.
  • You can even go for some of the Commerce courses.
  • Railway Apprentice Exam
  • Business Administration and Management Studies

Hope this helps. All the best!

Hello Aspirant,

MPC student can pursue Defence Services through NDA which requires Mathematics in Class 12, so you have an advantage of choosing Physics, Chemistry and Maths subjects.

Besides becoming an Engineering aspirant, you can wish to choose Biotechnology field, or go for higher degree in Mathematics and Statistics.

If you are fond of chemical reactions, you will love to have higher degree in some field of Chemistry and research and publish your own Chemistry papers.

You can also go for B.Sc programe in particular field as per your interest, It all depends on your Career goal & interest.

Good Luck!
