When you talk about inorganic chemistry, the basic concepts include  the structure of the elements, their hybridization, and the reactions they undergo under different conditions. Talking about groups, you should focus on thier basic structure, how their properties vary as per groups and periods, how they react with different elements under different conditions. Also emphasise on lanthenoids and actinoides.
