Dear Ritika, For example, if you are studying in a class of 100, top 20 percentile means you should secure better marks than 80 students. In simple terms, your class rank should be between 1-20. Do not confuse percentage with percentile. Percentage is your score out of 100. For example if you scored 80 out of 100, your percentage is 80%. Your percentile shows the percentage of Candidates who scored lesser than you.

Hii aspirants

let me clear your doubt. top 20 percentile means that you are ahead of 80 percent of student who have given the same exam that you have given.

top 20 percentile of class 12 boards will be considered for admission to the 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 GFTIs. Candidates have to fulfill any of the two conditions for admission –

(a) score minimum 75% marks, or

(b) be ranked in the top 20 percentile in their respective boards

I hope my answer will be helpful for you

Good luck
