Since you have not mentioned the name of board so it is quite difficult to guide you with an accurate information, however what happens usually is your total marks of complete session includes marks of practical examination as well as of theory examination and in practical examination the marks are given on the basis of Viva, practical performed and file work so if you don't get your file checked then your marks for file would be deducted so make sure to get it checked.
