You category has to be same for JEE mains and JEE advance and the details which you had provided while filling JEE mains application form should be same for JEE advance too and since you have appeared in JEE mains as General category candidate, you cannot appear in JEE advance as ews category candidate.

Yes, you can register by declaring that you do belong to EWS provided your JEE (Main) 2020 score is above the General Cut-off. If your JEE (Main) 2020 score is below the General Cut-off you are not eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2020.

The category which is filled during jee main registration can not be changed during jee advance registration.

So if one fill wrong category. It might lead to rejection of your application. So while filling the application form please fill carefully.
