You cannot immediately become an IPS officer after class 12th. In order to become an IPS Officer, you must apply for CSE exam conducted by the UPSC . You must also crack the exam (preliminary, mains and interview) in order to get selected for the training.

To become an IPS officer, after 12th, You must complete a bachelor's degree in any specialisation and then prepare for UPSC examination . You are required to appear in UPSC examination and give first preference to IPS (Indian Police Service). There are two written examinations UPSC Main and UPSC Prelims and one interview round.
