The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority. The Income and Asset Certificate issued 'by any one of the following authorities in the prescribed format shall only be accepted as proof of candidate's claim as 'belonging to EWS .

EWS certificate is just like an income certificate and should not be confused with caste certificate. On the basis of EWS certificate, an individual can avail the benefit of reservation of 10% for EWS section in government jobs and higher educational institutions across the country.

ews stands for economically weaker section , the persons who belongs to general category and have no other reservations like obc/sc/st etc are eligible for ews if they matched the required criteria. the eligibility for ews category certificate is,

Persons who  gross income of their family is less than 8 Lakh per annum. (Here family income includes earning from all sources such as agriculture, salary, profession, business etc.)

Persons whose families have possession or property of following assets (irrespective of family income) will be not categorized under EWS category-

5 acres of agricultural land & above,

Residential plot of 100 square yards & above in notified municipalities,

The residential area of 1000 square feet & above,

Residential plot of 200 square yards & above in areas other than the specified municipalities.

in all government or centralized as well as state wise education reservation has 10% seat reserve for ews category students in education as well as in job recruitment.
