It is an imaginary curve drawn in an electric field such that tangent to it at any point gives the direction of electric force at that point or we can also say that when an unit charge is placed in the electric field of another charge particle it will experience a force and that direction of force is represented by the imaginary lines and  that line of forces are called as electric line of forces.
