Gate stands for graduate aptitude test in engineering. And it is conducted to shortlist candidates in various pg engineering programs. GATE scores are also taken into consideration during PSU recruitments. GATE is conducted jointly by the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and Kanpur) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. The purpose of the GATE examis to test students knowledge and understanding of their under Graduate level subjects in Engineering and Science.
