Gamete formation is the process of creating special cells, called gametes, in animals, including humans. These cells are crucial for reproduction. In males, gametes are known as sperm and are made through spermatogenesis in the testes. In females, they're called eggs or ova and form through oogenesis in the ovaries. Gametes are unique because they have only half the usual number of chromosomes.
